As Bantay Bata 163 Davao’s continuous protection among the children of Mindanao, another opportunity of spreading out the message in keeping our children safe happened as Tambayan Center Inc. and Holy Cross of Davao College bonded their commitment through a film showing of Davao’s local film dubbed as “LATUS”, local term for “corporal punishment”.
Produced locally in 2009, “Latus” flaunts physically abused girls who rather stay out with peers even late at night than being hit and physically punished in their houses repeatedly. The film shows how children pass violence they experience in their homes through spearheading gangs and riots in their locality.
With 302 viewers from different courses of Holy Cross of Davao College, “Latus” inspires the students to work hand in hand with Bantay Bata 163 on its continuous campaign on ending “Violence Against Children”. They are pleased to forward the message of the film to their parents and family, teachers and peers.
Aside from the film showing, the students also heard and understood more what corporal punishment and child abuse are through a question and answer portion with the children who were once victims of child abuse.
BANTAY BATA 163 DAVAO would like to THANK: SAVE THE CHILDREN SWEDEN, TAMBAYAN CENTER FOR CHILDREN'S RIGHT AND HOLY CROSS OF DAVAO COLLEGE
