Bantay Bata 163: Enjoying Great Outdoors at Tudaya Falls

An adventure to Davao del Sur would never be complete without a visit to one of the country’s tallest cascade, the Tudaya Falls.

This year’s Summer Camp of 16 children from Bantay Bata 163’s temporary shelter turns outdoor. The children enjoyed Kublai Millan’s “Agong” and “Guitar” house at Kapatagan, Davao del Sur as their pit stop. With it’s cool climate, fresh air, scent of pine trees and flowers, the children feel and appreciate more the gift of nature that they would never experience downtown.

Through the assistance of the Mountaineering Federation of Southern Mindanao, another adventure was explored by the children of Bantay Bata 163 Davao.

The 45 minute challenging trekking experience boosted after witnessing the stunning beauty of Tudaya Falls. The three letter word “WOW” is the only expression the kids uttered. Children’s Home kids seize the moment to feel the calming spirit of the waterfalls and see its captivating natural landscape.

Mary Grace Monocillo, Bantay Bata 163 Children’s Home Resident Social Worker said that this year’s summer camp is a total different from the past years.

“Since the kids go outdoors, they experienced and realized more that there are a lot of pleasing panoramas outside the city and I believe that it is important on their healing process as we help them the unpleasant experiences they had before”, she added.

Aside from outdoor adventure, children’s talents in visual art were also discovered and enhanced through their art workshop.

All efforts made today for the children will surely be of great value in the future.

BANTAY BATA 163 would like to thank MOUNTAINEERING FEDERATION OF SOUTHERN MINDANAO, DEPARTMENT OF TOURISM and KUBLAI MILLAN
